Ofsted inspection finds deterioration in level of children's services in Cheshire West and Chester (CWaC)
Commenting on the release of the latest Ofsted report into children's services in Cheshire West and Chester Council, Cllr Adrian Waddelove, Shadow Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, said:
"Today's news is very concerning with all but one area of children's services requiring improvement to be good. Ofsted's report is clear that the Council has been over optimistic in its own performance levels, meaning identified improvements have not happened quickly enough - sadly a familiar tale.
Labour have run CWaC for the last 9 years where they've overseen a period of decline and deterioration in levels of performance. In 2015, they inherited a children's services department which in some areas, was classified as outstanding. They are now the worst performing local authority in the North West for SEND EHCP timeliness from being one of the best. And on highways, they have allowed a pothole crisis to deepen.
Today's report is a reminder that our residents deserve better."
