Cheshire West & Chester Conservatives welcome £205,610 in funding to support grassroots football in the City of Chester.
· Football clubs and communities across the country will receive investment in grassroots football facilities thanks to the Conservative Government.
· Cllr Stuart Parker, Shadow Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure, Heritage and Green Space, welcomes £205,610 in funding for Cheshire West & Chester Council in the City of Chester (Hoole) to improve the quality of sporting facilities for the local area.
· This new funding from the Conservative Government, the FA, and the Premier League, will make sure that more people can enjoy the benefits of coming together and playing sport.
Cllr Stuart Parker has welcomed the announcement that, thanks to the Conservative Government, 178 projects across the UK will receive extra funding to support grassroots football in their local communities.
Projects in every corner of the UK have been selected for Local Football Facility Plans, drawn up by the Football Foundation. They will receive funding to increase participation in sport, including for women and disabled players.
This extra funding includes £205,610 for Cheshire West & Chester Council in the City of Chester constituency. The investment from the Conservative Government, the FA, and the Premier League, will help complete phase two of the pavilion works at Coronation Fields in Hoole.
The Conservative Government has invested £39 million to upgrade football facilities in England this financial year. Scotland will receive £2 million, Wales £1.3 million, and Northern Ireland £700,000.
Over the next four years, a package of investment worth £230 million will build or improve up to 8,000 football pitches across the UK – supporting the construction or refurbishment of clubhouses, changing facilities, and community buildings.
The new investment will widen access so that new generations and more local communities can come together, take up sport, and access high-quality facilities.

“Too many communities across the UK do not already have access to the high standard of local sports facilities that they need and deserve.
“I welcome £205,610 in investment from the Conservative Government, the FA, and the Premier League for Cheshire West and Chester Council, which will support the completion of phase two of the upgrade works to the new pavilion at Coronation Fields in Hoole – widening access so that even more local residents can benefit from high quality sports facilities.
“Access to high quality facilities and increased participation can be transformational – this investment in grassroots sport will improve physical and mental wellbeing and bring our communities together.”

“From artificial grass pitches in Sefton, Newcastle and Southampton, to great changing facilities in Blackpool and Solihull, and grass pitch improvements in Chelmsford, Harrogate and Ipswich, this investment will ensure more people can enjoy the physical and mental health benefits of these facilities in their local communities.”
